Production Linked incentive scheme
- A keystone of Make in India is the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
- In the Union Budget 2021-22, an outlay of Rs 1.97 lakh crore for the PLI Schemes for 13 key sectors was announced, to create national manufacturing champions and generate employment opportunities for the country’s youth aim to improve India’s rank on the Ease of Doing Business index by eliminating unnecessary laws and regulations, making bureaucratic processes easier, and making the government more transparent, responsive and accountable.

Manufacturing Sector
- The manufacturing sector is expected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2025 and contribute about 25 percent to India’s GDP. As per the World Bank, manufacturing contributed about 16 percent to the country’s GDP in 2016.
